In Alpha Theory, users can use several custom fields in their valuation of assets (including confidence checklist items). Now, these fields can be adjusted directly from Excel and loaded into Alpha Theory. To do so, simply follow the below steps:
- To set a custom field, such as checklist items, enter the =CUSTOMFIELD_SET function into a cell, and fill it in with the following fields:
- Ticker Name
- This is the Alpha Theory ticker for your desired asset.
- NOTE: You can find all active asset tickers using the function =SHOW_ASSETS_TABLE(“Fund Name”)
- This is the Alpha Theory ticker for your desired asset.
- Custom Field Name
- This is the name of the custom field as it exists in Alpha Theory.
- E.g. "Management Quality", "Crowdedness", etc.
- Value
- This is the actual value to which the custom field is being set.
- E.g. for Management Quality - "High"; for Crowdedness - "Not Crowded"
- Rationale
- This will upload notes to the custom field (displayed under the field name in the application)
- Users can store the reasons behind the custom field value here.
- Fund Name
- The Fund Name designation displayed in your Alpha Theory platform.
- NOTE: This is only required for use with restricted funds
- The Fund Name designation displayed in your Alpha Theory platform.
- Ticker Name
- The formula should now look like this: =CUSTOMFIELD_SET("AAPL", "Management Quality", "High", "Strong CEO has led to growth in Shareholder Value", "Test Fund").
- Once set appropriately, simply click on the "Upload Data" button, and that will submit that field setting from Excel to Alpha Theory.
- To confirm, navigate to your Alpha Theory environment, and confirm the value from Excel is now set correctly in the application!
